Hosted Issue Tracking Tool – DoneDone
We like to give a huge shout out to our friends at We Are Mammoth, creators of DoneDone an amazing hosted issue tracking tool. It’s incredibly easy to use and is a rare example of software that is “Simple but not simple minded”. One of my first music teachers described Beethoven by saying that his music was “Simple but not Simple Minded”. I love that phrase and it makes sense for a tool that was built to simplify your life.
Recently I’ve had a chance to learn a little more about how this tool came to fruition. One of the leaders of the team behind this cool app is a guy named Ka Wai Cheung who coincidentally recently published a book called “The Developer’s Code”.
While I am still very much a fledgling developer, this is the direction that I hope to eventually travel. For some reason, once people put on their developers cap they tend to overcomplicate things. I once heard someone describe this phenomenon as “building a jetpack when you could easily use the stairs” and I have been guilty of it many times.
DoneDone is a work of art in many ways, not only does it help to simply your life (it can be used as a giant super smart checklist) but it also showcases some of the cleanest and coolest functionality that I have seen in an app recently. If you’re ever managing a project, be it a little league team or a massive new website, you might want to check out this tool, it’s built by some great people who are doing good things!
